Reading or watching Hope For the Flowers can be a family treat or inspiration in this time of isolation. Hope’s caterpillar heroes, Stripe and Yellow, join rabbits, Easter eggs and blossoms to celebrate new life and all the feasts of spring during this necessary physical distancing. I always dreamed of Hope becoming a spring, transforming, Easter, special since it also celebrates the radical transformation all that stands for. Maybe this year it has happened in a way I never imagined.

“How does one become a butterfly” Yellow asks pensively.
“You must want to fly so much  That you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”

I can't think of anything more transformational and radical than the change that happens when a lowly caterpillar worm dissolves within its chrysalis or cocoon to then emerge changed into a flying beautiful butterfly able to fulfill its purpose by carrying the love pollen from one flower to another and being fed from each receptive flower's nectar. What a wondeous exchange is our destiny if we share! The story seems to reach every culture, and I'm so grateful that over 3 million, for 50 years, have loved and shared the paper version.

May we humans embrace this current "global waiting" to reassemble a new world, making it a truly a world of sharing so that life may thrive “unto the seventh generation" as wise indigenous ancestors understood as a necessary way of acting.  May we already now, during the crisis, joyfully take up the human, bees and butterfly task to "repair the world”  Tikkun Olam - and lovingly create a new normal from this strange dark cocoon of forced reflection.(I know I am not talking to all those essential workers, risking their own lives to support those of us privileged enough to isolate. Thank you is what we must all say and hopefully reward essential work with what it deserves.
In hope always, Trina - on behalf of Stripe and Yellow
May the message of HOPE reach your heart during this global pandemic.
Stay Safe ❤️
